Club Bart

Club Bart
22726 Woodward Ave.
Ferndale, MI 48220

Name: Bart's Grilled 3-Cheese
Ingredients: Served on grilled Challah bread with feta, cheddar and cream cheeses
Sides: Chips and a pickle, although if you get the delux it comes with Bart's potatoes and housemade coleslaw
Price: $5.95 or the delux for $7.25
Thoughts: The Challah bread is similar to Texas Toast-nice and crispy and light.  Cheesy!  All the cheeses melt together to make a soft, warm, fluffy, salty experience.  Yes, fluffy.  I'm trying to come up with some new descriptive words.  A very creamy grilled cheese but you can pick out the sharpness from the cheddar.  Overall, this one is satisfying.  Paired with a refreshing classic iced tea.  Well-done (in both senses.)

Club Bart is one of those joints that probably hasn't been updated in at least 10 years.  Funky chandeliers hang from the ceiling and jazzy art hangs on the walls (although slightly askew). It's got that old diner feel but combined with a hole-in-the-wall bar vibe.  During the day the jubox plays oldies (but goodies, eh)-Beach Boys,  Gary Lewis and the Playboys.  There's a tiny stage behind the bar for possible open mike nights, small acts.  This place probably thrives on it's regulars and hipsters alike.  Two old guys sat at the bar and played those computerized lotto games the whole time we were there.
Score: ◥◥◥
*Bonus: They serve breakfast til 2.  Breakfast rules.
